Celia Stewart

Music Director/ Co-ordinator Take Off with Music

Celia lives in Christchurch where she is Music Director of the Christchurch School of Music and works as a music specialist and PD provider in primary schools and early childhood centres. The CSM has been a huge part of her life - she began learning recorder at the age of 6, added flute at the age of 10 and progressed through all the school’s orchestras to play principal flute in the Youth Orchestra for many years. At various times she has been a flute teacher and supervisor, recorder supervisor and pre-school teacher. Celia has an LTCL in flute and recorder and a Masters in Education with 1st class honours through Waikato University.

Roanna Funcke

Asst Music Director/ Tutor Percussion

Roanna Funcke completed her Bachelor of Music with first-class honours in Performance Percussion at the University of Canterbury. Roanna is Associate Principal Percussionist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the NZ National Youth Orchestra, Southern Sinfonia, Pandemonium, Christchurch Bicycle Band, Woolston Brass and the National Band of NZ. Roanna is a multiple NZ Brass Bands Association ‘Open Percussion Solo’ champion. Roanna has worked as “Artist in Residence” at two Christchurch secondary schools. She has toured internationally as a soloist on multiple occasions with the National Band of NZ and Woolston Brass. Roanna is currently a percussion tutor and Assistant Music Director of the Christchurch School of Music and teaches in schools around Christchurch.
